Costco Diapers

I just finished changing the nastiest diaper I have seen in my entire life. I opened up the diaper expecting to see a fairly full wet diaper, but instead I saw a solid mass of yellow. All over the front, all over the back, the diaper was covered completely as was my son underneath. The surprising part was that there was not one leak, didn't shoot out the back, or leak out the legs at all. The last diapers that I had would have completely blown out with a minuscule fraction of the amount in that diaper. These were Costco, Kirkland brand diapers. I wasn't expecting much from them, but they definitely passed the test. I've liked Swaddlers diapers in the past, but they cost twice as much as these Costco ones do. Swaddlers diapers never got tested in that manner, so I really don't know which ones are better, but given the cost, I think I'll be buying Costco diapers from now on... unfortunately there isn't a Costco here, so now I have to decide if it is worth the cost of gas to drive to Utah to buy cheaper diapers... I will be visiting Utah anyways but I don't know that the diapers that I have will last until next month when I visit again. All well, just one more thing to figure out.

It takes a village to raise a child

I'm reading a book for my class called "Boys Adrift" by Leonard Sax. I'm getting close to the end of the book, and as I've been reading I've been fearing for my sons a bit. This book is all about how more and more recently boys tend to lose motivation and are content to live with their parent's until they're 30, playing video games and doing little else. It talked about how the education system has been changing in recent years and how in many cases it tends to disengage boys from school. Lots of smart boys just stop caring about school and call it "stupid" and just stop trying while instead they put more and more effort into video games. Of course, these trends don't apply to all boys, but it seems to be happening more and more. Girls are starting to fall into this pattern too, but not nearly to the extent that boys are.
