March overview

This has been a bit of a crazy month. Dean was in Utah doing an army class for most of the month. We joined him the last week during the kids' spring break. While there, we celebrated Andrew's eighth birthday. I made him a tiger cake. :) Andrew really enjoyed spending his birthday with his cousins.

The last day that we were in Utah, Andrew was baptized. Several of my siblings and their families were there. Dean's parents and sister came down from Green River, and my parents were there via video. Andrew was so eager and excited the whole day. I really hope it was an experience that he will remember. I asked him to write in his journal about it, but he really doesn't like writing, so he didn't.

Today my ward did a musical program following the life of Jesus Christ. There were several hymns, songs from the children's songbook, the primary sang, and there were a couple of solos and a duet. I was asked to sing the last song, about when Christ came to the Americas. This is the song I sang...
...or at least tried to. There had been so many songs by that point, and the spirit in the room was so strong. I had already been really nervous because I hadn't completely gotten over a cold/cough from four weeks ago, and my voice felt very strained and tired. It didn't end up mattering at all though, because I couldn't hardly sing a word due to emotions. I felt so embarrassed! It was the first time I had ever sung a solo... ever really, and it was a total flop! I don't know that I'll be volunteering to do that again any time soon. That said, I did get so many comments, and thank-yous, and hugs, and texts... I must have had angels singing with me or something, because I didn't feel that I had gotten the message across very well. I just couldn't get it out of my head. He came for me! It hit me very personally as I was singing it right then, after having heard music about his birth, life, atonement, and resurrection. I was fine practicing it beforehand, but when it really mattered, I just couldn't get through the song.

My goal in March was to invite someone over to hang out. I did! Not how I was anticipating though, but it worked out. I also made efforts to plan a game night, but that's probably going to have to wait until May.
