Andrew Norman Dawes

Andrew was born Saturday March 19, 2011 at 4:09 am. He weighed 8 pounds and 11 ounces, and was 21 inches long. I went to the hospital at 10 pm on Friday with really strong contractions about 4-5 minutes apart. I got an epidural around 12:30, and after that things were really easy. Around 2, they decided that I wasn't progressing enough. After 4 hours my contractions were still 4-5 minutes apart, so they gave me some pitocin to speed things up a bit. A couple minutes before 4am they came in and told me it was time to push. After only about 10 minutes of pushing Andrew was born.
So far he has been a really easy baby. He sleeps most of the night, and he only cries when he's hungry or needs a diaper change or just wants to be swaddled. He caught on to nursing really easily too. I feel really good too, you'd never guess that I just had a baby a week ago. I feel completely back to normal already, and it's so great not to be pregnant anymore.
DJ has been slowly adjusting to having a baby around. When we introduced them at the hospital DJ was afraid of Andrew, but yesterday he gave him a hug... so he's come a long way. Most of the time he just ignores him and acts like he's not there. He still won't touch him, or go anywhere near him most of the time.

DJ has loved having the baby toys back out again. He plays with his old playmat now at least as much as he did as a baby. Now the only trouble is that he always likes to lie on it with someone else, so he is constantly grabbing one of our hands and dragging us to it. It is a little difficult when we're holding Andrew though.
