Texas...

My life for the past year has been a little crazy. Well, more than just the past year. It started in January of last year I suppose. Dean had to go do training in Louisiana for a month, so I went and stayed with Kristy in Michigan during that time. Then in June I moved in with Heather when Dean left for Afghanistan. In July I went to visit Mom and Dad. Daniel and Joey were living there too, so I got to see them. I spent some time at Lindy's house and I spent some time at Lia's house, and I saw Amber fairly often. Then I went back to Heathers house for the rest of the year, but I visited MaeLyn frequently, spending a day here, and a weekend there. In December, I went back to Utah got to see all of those from Utah again, then I went and lived with Heidi in Idaho for three months, making frequent visits to Utah to see Amber and Lia and Lindy and Daniel and Mom and Dad. The only one that I hadn't spent much time with at that point was Jarom. So DJ and I flew off to Texas to spend two weeks where we stayed with Jarom, and also got to see Joey frequently. I really enjoyed it.
When someone says Texas, the first thing that comes to my mind is cowboys, followed by tumbleweeds and desert. But that was not what I saw at all. As the plane was coming into Austin I was looking around and everywhere I looked was green. Trees and grass and a big river and then the plane landed along side a big meadow with flowers of many different colors. There were oranges and blues and yellows and pinks and purples and reds and whites. It was beautiful. And I hadn't even gotten off the plane yet. When I did finally get off the plane, the next thing I noticed was the heat followed by the humidity. It probably wasn't all that hot, it was just the humidity making it seem so hot. After a few days there and I got used to the humidity, then it wasn't so bad at all. I forgot what humidity felt like, I've gotten so use to living in dry places lately.
Most of my days there I spent with Jadon and Linda at their house. Jadon is so much fun, he is such a silly little kid, and I really enjoyed getting to know Linda better. And I spent quite a bit of time protecting DJ from Jarom's cat, Echo.
We also went out and saw some of Austin, which really is a beautiful city. I wish I had taken more pictures. I loved all of the trees that lined the streets. They hung over the road in places and I really liked the effect. We went and saw the Colorado river (odd that I would come from Colorado to Texas to see the Colorado river) where Linda picked berries right off tree and ate them,
we saw lots of cool looking buildings, a few different parks, and Linda and I stumbled across a beautiful place with lots of peacocks, fish, and a turtle.
I really enjoyed my time there, but I was also happy to return. Mostly so that I could get a start on moving into my apartment and getting ready for Dean to get back. I still don't really know when he will be back. He keeps giving me a date, and it keeps getting pushed back. I think it will be sometime late this week, but that is still subject to change. It is so close, and yet it still seems so far away.
