School
Deano started kindergarten a couple of days ago, and things around here have changed. Our easy going days where the kids watch movies while I get my morning nap are gone. I no longer get to stay in my pajamas all day long (because those are the only comfortable pants I have right now). Deano is gone for most of the day every day, and I don't get to see him until the afternoon. I have missed having him around, but I am also loving that he is growing up. Even just in the last two days, he has been acting more mature.
Deano hasn't told me much about what is actually going on while he is at school other than that he had lunch time, and he played outside, and he didn't learn anything. He hasn't been eating his lunch during lunch time though, he eats just a few bites, and then finishes it off as an afternoon snack when he gets home from school. I expected that he would be really tied after a full day of school, especially because even before he started school he would often fall asleep during dinner time, but surprisingly, he has been just fine, and has had plenty of energy to play with Andrew and Isaac after he gets home.
Andrew has really been enjoying not having to fight Deano for my attention, and his non-stop questions and jabbering are now truly non-stop. Andrew has not enjoyed quiet time all by himself though, and that has motivated him to be more productive in the morning to get his jobs done and earn game time, that instead of using immediately, he saves to use during quiet time so he's not so bored. Despite that, he still tries to talk to me all through quiet time shouting down the stairs to me, never mind that I'm trying to nap. Starting in two weeks though, he will be going to preschool four days a week in the afternoons, so we won't have that problem as often.
Isaac hasn't seemed to notice much difference in our days, other than the fact that he loves going for a walk twice a day. I think he has hit the terrible twos though. He is communicating a lot better than he has been, but not quite as good as he would like to, and it causes him a great deal of frustration, usually resulting in a large amount of screaming and throwing himself to the floor.
We have been walking to take Deano to school in the mornings, and again to pick him up in the afternoon, which I'm sure is good for me, but it has been draining my already low supplies of energy. Even with having less energy, I've been managing to get more done every day. I think that can be attributed to Dean being gone for the entire month of August, so instead of spending time with him in the evenings, I've been spending that time getting chores done. I need to change that habit though, because I know that when Dean comes back, the house will once again fall into ruins if I can't get more done during the day.
