The semester is rapidly coming to an end, and we're not quite sure what we're doing from here. Dean has started applying for jobs, but he also registered for classes for next semester... so I don't know exactly what that means for us. We're looking for apartments and other houses in the area to move into with slightly cheaper rent. We're in no rush to move, we just know that we definitely can't afford to spend another winter in this house. The utility bill was so ridiculously high!
Andrew's birthday was on Monday. David and Donna came over and celebrated with us. Andrew didn't really know what to think of it, but he seemed to enjoy all of the excitement. He is walking really well now, and I think he's starting to develop language skills a bit too. I know that he is understanding more and more of what I say, and I'm pretty sure he said 'Go' yesterday, but I'm not quite sure.
DJ had a really hard time with Andrew's birthday. He remembers his own birthday and Christmas and so he was fully expecting to opening presents too, and was rather upset when we kept telling him that they were for Andrew. Donna brought him a present too though, so that helped... slightly. He is talking a ton now, repeating everything and understanding pretty much everything. Just this morning he was talking on a toy phone, and this was the conversation he had:
"Hello? Grandma? hi, what are you doing? happy? sad? mad! Grrrr! toys? light? Andrew is sleeping. honey for lunch! go to the park! Bye, see you later!"
He is always saying funny things, and doing funny things. He is getting to be really creative. His favorite toy this past week or so has been a 'Mater' car. But not just the car. He takes a pipe cleaner and ties it onto the tow hook, and then ties it onto other things, cars, planes, stuffed animals, anything, and he 'tows' it around the house.
As Andrew gets older the two of them interact a lot more. While they do play together a lot, they also seem to be fighting over toys and other things a great deal. It doesn't seem to matter what Andrew is playing with, but whatever it is, that's what DJ wants. The funniest thing that they fight over is who gets to throw the diapers away. DJ loves to throw away any trash that he can find, especially diapers, and Andrew has caught on. Every time he sees a dirty diaper he gets so excited, and he grabs it and pretty much gives it a hug, then he'll go throw it in the trash... unless DJ sees him with it, and he'll try and steal it so he can go throw it into the trash. I've had to implement a rule that whoever's diaper it was, gets to throw it away, although they still try to steal eachother's diapers.
The last few days the weather has been so nice. We've gone to the park a couple of times and spend the rest of the time out in the backyard. DJ has absolutely loved it, but has been really grumpy every time I had to drag him back inside. Andrew gets really excited every time the door opens too, and it seems that no matter where he is in the house, if he hears our squeaky front door, he comes running, and usually cries if we close it without him getting out.
My classes are still going fairly well. There are only two weeks left, and everything is coming down to crunch time, and I've been feeling a little overwhelmed. I think I'll be grateful when the semester ends, but I will miss my classes. I still haven't decided if I'm going to continue to take classes. As much as I want to, I don't know if its what I need to be doing. My house has fallen into complete disarray, and I feel like I've been neglecting my children a little too much.
Speaking of which both of my kids are crying about who knows what... maybe I should go find out why.
